This retrofit project is a major step toward revitalizing an essential community asset — the local arena. Our focus is to improve energy performance, enhance accessibility, and enable year-round recreation with a new ice plant system.

• Conducted a comprehensive condition assessment of the arena to identify priority upgrades.

• Engaged local leadership and arena users to align retrofit goals with community needs.

2️⃣ Energy Efficiency Design

• Integrated envelope and mechanical system improvements to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.

• Focus on enhanced insulation, LED lighting, efficient heating/cooling, and ventilation systems.

3️⃣ Ice Plant Installation Planning

• Coordinated technical planning for a modern ice plant system to support winter sports and extended usage.

• Evaluated power requirements and system performance relative to the remote climate conditions of York Landing.

4️⃣ Accessibility Enhancements

• Incorporated barrier-free access routes, entrances, and spectator areas to promote inclusive community use.

• Aligned design with provincial and national accessibility standards.

5️⃣ Current Phase: Design Finalization

• Finalizing detailed designs and construction documents.

• Preparing for tendering and phased construction delivery in alignment with seasonal schedules and funding timelines.
